This was in the comics a couple of weeks ago. Does it remind you of anybody you know?
Yes, my friends, I am a member of the Losers & Loners club. I decided almost 2 years ago that I was tired of giving AT&T/Cingular more than $500/year for the privilege of carrying one of their cell phones around and having hundreds of unused minutes “roll over” every month, and then expire. So I switched to a prepaid plan. Instead of spending $1000 over the last 2 years, I have spent about $300. The phone does everything I need it to – the kids & hubby can still reach me, I can still make calls when needed – but I just can’t spend a lot of time chit-chatting. Which is OK because I haven’t really figured out the whole “hands-free” while driving thing anyway…
Switching to a prepaid cell phone plan (assuming you can stay within whatever spending limits you want to set) is an easy and relatively painless way to cut a monthly budget item if you find you must retrench due to the current economic woes.
And hey, I’ve just unofficially added it to the list of what makes you morally superior, so there’s another benefit.

cute comic! That is a good tip. We are feeling the need to add to our # of phones, though I always thought we would resist giving phones to our teens..I can see situations where I would like Larissa to be able to call us. We were thinking of getting a prepaid phone for her instead of adding to our plan.
